WHAT WE DO

Founded in 1987, the SJCC has provided more than 15,000 "at-risk" disadvantaged, young men and women (mostly minority) with the academic education, hands-on learning, and development of basic skills such as leadership, communication, computer literacy, and employment training needed to enter and succeed in the Silicon Valley skilled workforce. The SJCC offers secondary education courses through its on-site charter high school, and vocational education and job training through its Projects and Recycling Departments. Another program, YouthBuild San Jose, combines the mandatory academics with paid on-site job training in the high demand, high wage construction trades.

Our Mission

The San Jose Conservation Corps & Charter School is a non-profit organization that provides youth with a quality high school education and teaches valuable work and life skills that empower them to become responsible, productive, and caring citizens.

To accomplish our mission we emphasize the interdependence of education and work, and address the individual needs of socially, educationally, and economically disadvantaged youth. Specifically, we:

  • Create and promote a safe, healthy, and structured environment for work and learning.
