San Jose Conservation Corps and Charter School (SJCC& CS) is proud to announce the grand opening of their Day Care Center on May 27, 2010 at 11:30 am at 1560 Berger Drive in San Jose, CA 95112. We cordially invite members of the media to join Vice Mayor Judy Chirco, Councilmember Kansen Chu, The San Jose Redevelopment Agency, the City of San Jose Public Library and others at the grand opening event.

“We help at-risk youth who have made a commitment to return to school and earn their high school diplomas. Education is essential to the growth of our students, but they can be held back if they themselves have children that need day care. With our new Day Care Center, operated by SJB, we can offer our students a safe and worry-free environment in which to continue their education while being assured that their children are in good hands,” said Bob Hennessy, founder and Executive Director of SJCC&CS.

The San Jose Conservation Corps Day Care Program believes there is a great need to go beyond just being a school to support teenage parents during this most crucial point in their lives, while they are in school. The students can now concentrate on completing their education while their children are well cared for in the same building, just a few feet away. The five-room, 14,000 square foot facility provides a nurturing, safe environment for 82 infants, toddlers and preschoolers, all at a subsidized, low rate for students.
